The Comparative form

A. Superiority

1 Short Adjectives:

Adj + er (than)

long, short, fast…
Bill is twenty. John is twenty-two.
John is older than Bill.
Bill is younger than John.

thin   – thinner.
fat    – fatter.
wet  – wetter.
big    – bigger.

noisy    – noisier.
happy    -happier.
heavy    -heavier.

quiet    -quieter.

bad    -worse.

2 Long Adjectives:
More + Adj + (than)

comfortable, attractive…
A Jumbo Jet is more economical than a Concorde.
Her younger sister is more beautiful than she (is)

B. Inferiority

Less + Adj + than

This hotel is less comfortable than that one.
